Teddys Tackle Fly Fishing and Fly Tying Supply

These patterns have been developed locally for Vancouver Island and interior British Columbia fishing. We have tied and fished all of these patterns ourselves.  Join our Wednesday evening fly tying sessions from 7:00 - 9:00 and try some of these out with us!
Krystal Flash Leech 1/22/2010
This pattern is from Bill Morton. A good leech for local lakes.
Chilcott Nymph 1/21/2010
from Dave Chilcott who did very well with this fly on a mild January morning.

These are proven flies for pink salmon fishing in July and August on Vancouver Island.

This is pattern is originally from Mike Nadeau. It is a dynamite dry fly from late August to late October when wood termites are active.
CR Super Pink 10/20/2009
This pattern is from Greg Brunt and is used for pink salmon. It has been used successfully in the Eve River. It is also good in the estuaries for those times when the pink coloured flies don't work.
Harvey's Pink Shrimp 10/20/2009
This is Harvey Dubuc's famous pink salmon fly aka "Harvey's Happy Hooker"
Bulldog 10/15/2009
This is Dennis Ramshaw's version of the Bulldog a wooly bugger variation. This has been a hot fly on Vancouver Island lakes this Fall.
Bushwacker 5/19/2009
This is an easy to tie variation of a caddis pupa pattern.
Wine Sparkle Leech 5/7/2009
An easy to tie but effective fly. Frank Norris caught a 24 inch trout on this leech at a local lake.
Alevin 3/16/2009
This is an alevin or fry pattern (without the egg sac) for spring fishing in local rivers, streams and estuaries.
Egg Sucking Leech 3/3/2009
This pattern by Mike Nadeau uses a hot glue gun with mini glue sticks in salmon egg colours. Mike says it is very effective in local lakes.
Pink/Grey Shrimp 12/18/2008
This is a Searun Cutthroat pattern in the smaller size and an excellent fly for Pink Salmon in the size 8.
Gold Eye Micro Leech 11/19/2008
This simple fly is effective in early Spring on Vancouver Island lakes.
Moose Mane Chironomid 11/18/2008
This pattern was designed by Ken Thorne. We have been using it as a nymph/emerger just below the surface on a floating line. It has done well for us on local lakes in October and November of 2008.
Needlefish 2 10/11/2008
This pattern is based on a fly I found on the beach at Salmon Point this summer. Ted added the underwing and flash lateral line to develop this pattern. Use the smaller hook sizes for sea-run cutthroat and the larger hook for coho salmon.
Needlefish 1 10/11/2008
We observed large schools of needlefish while beach fishing for sea-run cutthroat in July and again in September watched coho feeding on needlefish. Here is our version of a needlefish pattern.
Lazer Neil 10/11/2008
We enjoyed fishing with Neil Light aka "California Neil" on the beach this summer. We have his permission to publish this version of his famous coho pattern.
American Red 9/27/2008
If your favourite pink patterns are just not working, give this one a try. A very nice American fisherman was using this fly on the beach this summer and got more pinks than all the rest of us. He very kindly shared his pattern. Who would have thought - red for pinks!
Mini Handlebar 6/4/2008
This is Josh Block's pink salmon pattern. He did very well with it at the North end of Vancouver Island last year.

Originated by Paul Rickard, this fly works well on interior lakes in late Spring, early Summer.

This pattern is from Bill Ratcliff of the Mid Island Castaways Fly Club. This is basically a steelhead fly but a smaller version in a #6 or #8 hook is an effective trout fly.
